BIRTH OF THE BOOK
The original story was a modern Gothic romance written in 1992 as a vehicle to express my feelings regarding my dying marriage. It wasn't very good. Lonely woman in bad marriage meets sexy vampire--which is great, except for the horrible guilt feelings and all the nasty undead business. After it was done I put it away until, in 2000, I drunkenly spoke of it to some co-workers who expressed interest in having a copy. I beg anybody who has one of these dreadful things to please burn it.

In 2002, I started editing the original story to make it darker and to have qualities that were inspired more by intellect than desperation and horniness. Numerous subplots and fantastic new characters developed. It was hell trying to organize them. I broke the original book into several books. I worked on this as I could. It seemed an impossible task.

My co-author entered the picture late in 2005.  There is an entire page devoted to explaining him and the impact he has had on both my writing and my life, so I won't go into greater detail here. Without him, this book would not exist. His input and influence are of the greatest value.

The new story is part supernatural thriller, part Gothic romance, part lesson in metaphysics and mythology, part journey of the world beyond the veil of death, part tribute to those whose creations inspired this work, part therapy for both authors, part vehicle for certain important messages my co-author wishes to impart, and part vehicle for us to help others who, like us, suffer from psychological difficulties. It is a group of stories that are woven together into a complex tapestry. It is a puzzle that we are still working on deciphering ourselves. And it is a vehicle for philanthropy. It is my co-author's wish that his portion of the proceeds from the book are donated to the World Health Organization's mental health division as he has no ability to utilize money and wishes to help others who might be suffering from similar psychological ailments to his get help rather than taking their own lives due to severe emotional distress.

May all beings have happiness
May they be free from suffering
May they find the joy that has never known suffering
May they be free from attachment and hatred
