Most people have a very black and white view of good and evil. The metaphysical author Konstantinos proposes that not only are there polarities of good and evil, but that good and evil each have two polarities as well. Thus, rather than the simplistic view that light is always good or dark always evil, he proposes that there is good-light, evil-light, good-dark and evil-dark.
The forms that most people understand and see the world in terms of are good-light and evil-dark. They misunderstand the other two forms, particularly good-dark, which usually gets mistaken for evil.
A few examples:
The obvious examples of good-light are people such as Mother Teresa or Pope John Paul II. These are people whose intent to do good was obvious, and who allied themselves with a power widely accepted as a form of good.
Evil-light is less understood and therefore of ten gets away with vile behavior. Examples of evil-light are persons such as David Duke, who claims a belief in the widely accepted power of good (the Christian God) but holds prejudiced beliefs against persons whose skin is not the same color as his. As he is not overtly violent he is in some ways more dangerous because his charismatic personality easily sways people who do not have strong convictions. Others who fall within the spectrum of evil-light are televangelists who bilk psychologically vulnerable people out of their money without concern for the welfare of these individuals, or priests/ministers who use their power to decieve families and molest children.
Evil-dark is easy to spot. Despots such as Adolf Hitler and serial killers such as Richard Ramirez are evil-dark. Their disdain for others and willingness to do harm is overtly presented. They are the polar opposites of the Mother Teresas of the world.
Good-dark is probably the most misunderstood alignment. People who are good-dark are drawn to study occult subject matter and are often fascinated by horror fiction and dark poetry. They are often given to melancholy. They are deeply sensitive and generally quite intelligent. Often misunderstood as being evil by intolerant individuals, they sometimes mistakenly begin seeing themselves as evil and are errantly drawn to worship of negative rather than dark powers. Because true evil is actually destructive to them, the results are generally catastrophic.
Edgar Allan Poe is a fine example of someone of the good-dark polarity, as is Konstantinos himself. The multitalented Quorthon is another example and although he might not have known this term, he understood his own nature. I am also an example of a good-dark. Had I known this polarity was possible, I could have saved myself a lot of grief dabbling in areas that shouldn't be messed with when I was younger. I fear I drew no few negative entities to me and it took a long time to get rid of them.
My co-author was also good-dark and it is sad that he misunderstood his own nature to a degree that led him to destroy his earthly life. He was evidently not "good" in the narrow confines of what he was taught that one had to be in order to be good, but he was not evil either and attempting to ally himself with energies of an evil polarity contributed to his final violent actions towards himself.

If somehow what we have created here and in the book can help prevent future tragedies due to persons misunderstanding their true natures, then all is not lost. Even the misunderstood have something to offer.

This essay is a work in progress.
